Hi, I’m Alexis (Lex) — dog mom to an incredible rescue pup named Larry, and wife to my favorite human, Lou.
Larry means the world to us. He’s an 12-year-old, 65-lb rescue mix who loves slow mornings at home and howling every single night at 6pm when our local fire station tests their sirens. He’s a huge foodie, so we rely on enrichment tools and mentally stimulating routines to keep his brain sharp. We also feed him a fresh, natural diet because we believe dogs deserve food as close to nature as possible.
Larry has been navigating hind-leg challenges, including hip dysplasia and a neurological condition. While his mobility looks a little different these days, his spirit hasn’t changed one bit. He’s still full of life, personality, and joy and we’re committed to doing everything we can to keep him comfortable, happy, and thriving. This blog is where I document our journey and share what we’re learning along the way.
Lou has been by my side through every step of Larry’s journey. He’s my teammate, my steady calm, and the biggest advocate for giving Larry the best life possible. What started as “my dog” quickly became our dog and now, as a married couple, we’re navigating life, love, and senior-dog parenthood together.
When I’m not hanging out with Larry, creating content, or writing, you can usually find Lou and me bowling, rock climbing, watching football, or curled up with a good book. I hold a Master of Science in Psychology, along with Pet Food Nutrition certification from Dogs Naturally and Canine Nutrition certifications from the Feed Real Institute.
Welcome to Love + Tail Wags — a space rooted in love, learning, and doing our very best for the dogs who give us everything. We’re so glad you’re here. 🩷
